Google Search Console is a free tool designed to help you measure your search traffic, understand your website’s performance, and find and fix issues as they arise.
You will see a ‘Start Now’ button. Click on this and you’ll see a familiar Google Login screen.
If you don’t have an active Gmail account to use, in the lower left of the screen, click on ‘Create Account’. This will take you through the steps to create a Gmail account so you can proceed.
Login with your Gmail account to access the Welcome Screen, pictured below.
Select the option most appropriate for your website. For this example, I will use the URL prefix. Enter the URL and click ‘Continue’. A verification box will pop up and begin to process.
Verification
A pop up will present you with multiple ways to verify your website. In my opinion, the Domain and Google Analytics methods are the fastest and easiest.
Each step comes with detailed instructions you will want to review and follow to ensure you are correctly inputting the information for your website.
Follow the provided information and click Verify or Start Verification to continue.
