Make your podcast listener-friendly with chapter markers. Listeners can easily jump to interesting sections, skim ahead for what’s coming up, or avoid spoilers.
Many podcast apps now support chapters; adding them is simple with PodOps.
Adding Chapter Markers to your episodes #
Navigate to the Episodes section of your podcast, and click the title of any episode to open the admin view.
- Begin by clicking on the Create/Edit Chapters button
- On the following page, you will see your episode, and you can select where to put your chapter markers. Click the Add New Chapter button to create your first chapter.
- Start adding your Chapter Markers:
- Start Time (required): Type in the preferred start time for the chapter
- Chapter Title (required): Keep it short and to the point. This is what people will see in supported apps (Not all apps/directories support chapters)
- Link: You can add a link for each chapter. This will open a new browser window to sponsor links or referenced information. Note: This URL will not take a listener to this specific chapter.
- Action: After saving a chapter, use the action items to edit, delete, or disable (toggle on/off) the chapter
- After adding your chapter, click the Create button. Your chapter marker has been saved to your audio/video file!
IMPORTANT: For the best listener experience, add chapter markers before your episode goes live. Chapter markers are embedded in the file itself, so once an episode is downloaded, listeners won’t receive updates if you add chapters later.
Note: We can add chapter markers to your audio and video files, but they might not show up on all apps and platforms.
Updated as of June 20, 2024:
PodOps Hosting has added support for Podlove Simple Chapters.
We support three standards for chapter markers: Chapter markers embedded in audio/video files, Podcast Namespace Chapters, and Podlove Simple Chapters.
Adding compatibility for Podlove Simple Chapters means that chapter markers created in PodOps will display in Spotify.
